Emergency First Aid at Work
The one-day Emergency First Aid at Work course is suitable for people aged 16 plus who may at some need to administer first aid to someone who falls ill or becomes injured in the workplace. Depending on the nature of your organisation we will do our very best to tailor the training to the needs and requirements of your individual workplace.
The one-day course is perfect for organisations whose first aid needs assessment has identified a requirement for someone to hold a current emergency first aid at work qualification. Usually this is for organisations that present a low risk such as a Solicitors office, a hair dressing salon, a school or a childcare facility. If your needs assessment identifies a requirement for additional first aid training (e.g. due to having employees with various medical conditions), then we would always recommend the three day first aid at work course which teaches the skills to recognise and treat a wider range of injuries and medical conditions.
Our one day course provides delegates with the core skills and confidence to respond to a range of accidents and first aid emergencies they could encounter in the workplace.
By the end of the training the delegate should have developed the following skills and confidence to help someone who is:
- Unresponsive and not breathing, including how to use of an automated external defibrillator (AED)
- Unresponsive and breathing
- Having a seizure
- Bleeding heavily
- Suffering from shock
- Suffering from injuries caused by dry or wet burns
Furthermore the course also includes information on:
- Assessing a casualty – including Primary and Secondary survey
- Monitoring a casualty whilst awaiting medical assistance

Please be mindful that others may have certain allergies.
The course is delivered in a classroom setting and offer delegates a ‘hands on approach’ which will provide delegates with the skills and confidence to use first aid skills in a real life situation. Throughout the course delegates are continually assess using a range of practical activities, questioning and engaging activities designed to coach and support them.
